Christopher M. Scherer is an non-equity partner at Andrus, Sceales, Starke & Sawall.

Chris concentrates his practice on domestic and international patent prosecution and enforcement, particularly for electrical and electronic circuits and systems, computer software, medical devices, device fabrication, optical devices and systems, medical patient monitoring and treatment technology, as well as mechanical devices. Chris has provided infringement, novelty and right-to-use opinions in a wide variety of technology areas. He is also experienced in foreign and domestic trademark prosecution, copyright matters and in drafting licensing and joint venture agreements.

Chris is a graduate of the Marquette University College of Engineering (B.S. Electrical Engineering, 1996) and The John Marshall Law School (J.D., 1999), where he was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and participated in The John Marshall Law School Patent Clinic.

Chris is admitted to practice in Wisconsin, Illinois and the District of Columbia, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the Northern District of Illinois. He is also a registered patent attorney, licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Chris is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.

Prior to joining Andrus, Sceales, Starke & Sawall, Chris worked as a patent attorney with the Silicon Valley law firm of Haverstock & Owens, LLP, in Sunnyvale, California.
