Daniel P. Ochoa is a registered patent agent at Andrus Intellectual Property Law. Dan focuses his practice on assisting clients with preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications, as well as conducting patentability searches and assessments to identify valuable intellectual property for his clients.

 

 

 

Dan has drafted and prosecuted patent applications related to a broad range of technology areas, notably:

  • marine propulsion
  • watercraft systems
  • medical devices and imaging
  • control and automation applications
  • industrial vehicles and equipment

Dan has successfully represented a variety of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to independent inventors, before the United States Patent Office.

Education and Engineering Experience

Prior to his career as a patent agent, Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). While at MSOE, Dan interned at a precision water chiller manufacturer, where he supported the development of multiple product lines and manufacturing processes. He also worked as an intern designing and manufacturing high altitude weather balloon payloads. Dan has engineering design experience relating to a variety of other technical areas as well, including aeronautics, rocketry, and electromechanical control systems.

Dan also earned a Master of Science degree in Patent Law from the University of Minnesota Law School. His master’s coursework included advanced training in various intellectual property topics, including patent prosecution, patent application drafting, and intellectual property portfolio management. Before joining Andrus, Dan gained experience as a patent agent at a large multidisciplinary law firm.
